"Be the Hope" is the annual RFK Human Rights Italy Gala that, this year, took place on 8 November in Milan at 'La Pelota', a historical venue in the Brera district.
The event, hosted by journalist Maria Latella, with the participation of Kerry Kennedy, the seventh daughter of Senator Robert Francis Kennedy and Honorary President of RFK Italia, was a moment to present the projects and results achieved by the foundation whose aim is to continue the moral legacy of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and realise his dream of a fairer and more peaceful world.
The evening also provided the opportunity to award the 'Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Italy 2023 Prize' to individuals, institutions and organisations that have distinguished themselves in the fight for human rights. This year's awardees are the Fondazione Ernesto Pellegrini ONLUS for its commitment to providing support to those in a situation of temporary economic and social hardship in the Giambellino district of Milan, the Fondazione Quartieri Spagnoli for an experimental project to regenerate the functions and destination of the former Istituto Montecalvario, the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane for its socially inclusive initiatives aimed at people in marginalised conditions and former prisoners, and finally Gucci for its commitment to gender equality and the promotion of human rights in the company and in the supply chain.
During the dinner an auction was held by Christie's, main partner of the event together with the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, with prestigious items up for grabs, as well as a silent auction on the CharityStars platform and a win win lottery.
The evening was attended, among others, by presenter and athlete Vittorio Brumotti, the Deputy Mara Carfagna, Antonella Centra, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability of Gucci, Marie-Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability and Institutional Affairs Officer of KERING, the EU Special Representative for the Gulf region Luigi Di Maio, Patrizio Messina, Managing Partner Europe of Orrick, Letizia Moratti, President of E4Impact Foundation, Fabrizio Palermo, CEO of Acea, Paolo Scaroni, President of Enel, and the Italian Olympic champion Filippo Tortu.
